Typical Anniversary?

You know what Carl and I did on our anniversary today?

Hunter and I made Carl's gift this morning while he was in the shower.  Carl surprised me by staying home from work, but I had planned on making it today.  So we quickly made it.

Then we went to the zoo...

They were so close

Let Hunter nap.

Then went to the YMCA water park.

Isn't that what everyone does on their anniversary?  No?

2 Years

2 years ago today, Carl and I got married. We were lucky to have shared that wonderful day with our family and friends. There were some things I could have done without (like the Pastor ruining our rehearsal), but everything turned out like I had imagined. Thank you everyone who shared that day with us, who have been with us these past two years (and the years before), and who will be with us the many more years of our marriage.

I love you Carl. Here's to many more happy years!

Bahamas Vacation

We had a wonderful time on our cruise to the Bahamas! Some days were not as warm as we had hoped, but it was good. We left from Newport News on Sunday the 20th. Our flight was suppose to leave at 4, and the airplane wasn't even there when 4 rolled around. We were a little stressed because we didn't have a big lay over in Charlotte. When we landed in Charlotte, we looked like crazy people sprinting through the airport (good thing I was only about 14 weeks pregnant!)... only to get to the gate to find out that our next flight was delayed as well. Oh well, we got some exercise that day, haha.

We boarded the ship in Miami on Monday and cruised to Nassau and arrived on Tuesday. Carl and I went to Atlantis, explored the aquarium, looked for a place to eat lunch for 45 minutes (we ran across a buffet that was $28 a person... I don't know about you, but I can't eat $28 worth of food, much less want to eat that much!), then went on a 60 foot almost straight down water slide. It was a little chilly when we were dry, so when we were wet, it was freezing. We decided one slide was enough, and got our towels and dried off.

Wednesday, we anchored off the coast of Cococay. Carl and I were eating our breakfast watching the boats coming from the island to the ship almost tipping over because the water was so rough. It was decided that it was unsafe to try to boat people to the island, and we set sail for Key West. It would have been really nice to relax on the beach and do the Blackbeard BBQ, but I would rather not have been thrown into the rough sea.

Thursday we were in Key West, and walked for 2 hours around the island. We saw some very interesting people (a pirate with a wooden leg, a guy pushing birds around in a stroller, someone with a lemur, etc.). We then went Jet Skiing in the Gulf of Mexico. The water was beautiful (freezing) and we went for a "swim" (Carl swam, I jumped in, and got right back on the jet ski). The water was really rough, so we didn't go very fast on the ski. We ate lunch at Hard Rock Cafe. It was also the only day we forgot to put sunscreen on, and the only day there wasn't a cloud in the sky. We definitely got burnt that day.

Port of Key West

He had a wooden leg and a parrot (who is hiding behind his head). He rode a scooter around Key West.
Sunset

Friday we just drifted in the ocean and relaxed. We arrived back to Miami on Saturday and flew back home that night. All in all, it was so nice to go relax and see things we had never seen. It was great to just be able to be together, without our phones and computers :]

We also climbed this 2 story rock wall our first night. It doesn't look that high, but when you climb it when it is really windy, it is pretty scary (also for someone scared of heights!)

We did miss our family on Christmas, but we went to my parents' house the Sunday after to finish up Christmas.

Happy Anniversary!

One year ago today (August 16 2008, if you didn't know), this happened:

My best friend and I were married! It has been a great year. There may have been some times when one of us made the other mad (ahem.. Carl), but that is to be expected. As one of my clients at the traumatic brain injury center said, "Making up is the best part, that's why I fight with my significant other." Moving on...

We did eat (take a tiny bite) of the delicious (freezer burned) wedding cake. And after we savored it (held our nose as we chewed, and chugged water afterward), we ate a piece of 2 day old cake from the same bakery. Now that was delicious!

We played some putt-putt (never go to the golf course by Ocean Breeze, it is not as fun as it looks), lounged by the pool, went an ate at Ninja, a Japanese Steakhouse. We ended the night by stopping by 7-11 for gas, a pickle (for Carl), and a Slurpee (for me). Carl came back to the car, tried to start the car and it wouldn't start. Sigh. I guess you can't have a perfect day, can you? Hopefully it is just the battery and not the alternator. I guess we will find out if this battery mysteriously dies.

About Us

Just a little about us, our life, and those in it.

I'm Tiffany and my husband is Carl. We started dating in May 2005 and were married August 16, 2008. I grew up in VB and Carl in Portsmouth (so you have to cut him a little slack). He is really into bowling and bowls in leagues, I get excited when I bowl over a 100. The only time he has seen me play soccer was when I played sand soccer, and he showed up in Jordans. His idea of flip-flips used to be Nike strap sandals (I immediately bought him a pair of Reefs and those Nikes have never been seen again). We got engaged in March of 2007 before he left for a national bowling tournament. Originally our date was set for this coming August, but moved it up because we could. :] We moved in together in May of 2007 when I graduated from college and we welcomed our furry baby, Koal, into our lives that July. We were married in August at his Nana's church (we were not happy with the Pastor there) and had our reception at The Women's Club in Portsmouth. We "honeymooned" in Williamsburg because we used our real honeymoon money as a down payment on our house we had purchased April 2008 (the one we have been remodeling in previous posts).

"Honeymooning"

Koal is a crazy dog. He is mostly a good dog, but sometimes something goes wrong in his head and he becomes destructive (e.g., tearing a strip of leather off of our brand new leather couch). He loves to swim, but hates to take a bath. He has torn his cruciate ligament, but it doesn't seem to bother him. He has calmed down a lot since we first got him and he now listens to his mom (the non-discipliner).

We have 3 nieces from my sister, Mel, (Kaylee, Ryleigh, and Molly), 2 from his sister (Lexi and Carolyn), and 2 nephews from my brother (Caleb and Noah). We also have some adopted kids... Mason, from Erin and Mark (who is in the post below and who I was a nanny for when he was 2 months old up until he was 2 when my school schedule didn't give me a lot of time during the day) and Emma, from Kelly and Harry. We have a few friends expecting. Our lives are full of children, and we love it! Hopefully one day we will have our own.

Carl works for Advanced Technology Institute as and admissions rep. He is going to go back to school taking a few classes here and there while I'm finishing up my school. I am in grad school for speech-language pathology. I am finishing up my first off campus internship at a traumatic brain injury center. Hopefully in the fall I will be at a CHKD location. Then in May I will graduate. I am beginning to work on my thesis, so there may be some crazy up coming posts about that. I work part time at The Little Gym of Chesapeake as an instructor. I love that job.

So here we are, in 2009. About to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. Carl is finishing up the bathroom remodel. The only room left to re-do is the kitchen, which I can hopefully will be able to sand on my own. Then it is off to the outside to make the house have more "curb appeal".
