As close to catching a laugh on camera as I have gotten

Remember The "Weed" Bed?

Remember this guy:

I really wish I had taken a picture of it before Carl finished it. Yeah, I started it and like most of my projects it looks worse before it is finished. And, I didn't get around to finishing it. I ripped up half of that black stuff that you put down to block the weeds and had killed all the weeds. But then I became a whale and was unable to get out there in the heat. And those weeds came up to the porch. Our yard was an eye sore. So Carl got out there and fixed it. And now it looks like this:

We still need to figure out what plants to put out there that are low maintenance and can have direct sunlight.

What happens when Mommy goes to work...

I started work (well, "training") on Wednesday. My mom came to our house that day and watched Hunter for us. It made going to work for the first time easier (I will use that term loosely... I still cried like a baby... does it ever get any easier?!). On Thursday Hunter went to my sister's house. He was surrounded by 5 other little girls and 2 women. They did lots of fun things (like play dress up) and Molly even helped rock him. I think Carl may never let Hunter go play alone at Mel's house again, haha. You can see more of his adventure here. Friday Hunter went and played with Kelly and Emma. They went to a kid friendly farm. Kelly got to practice having Emma and a newborn (no, she's not pregnant but when the time comes...). Again, he was surrounded by a ton of little girls and women. All the estrogen made him a very tired little man... he slept from before 9 (Carl was home with him last night, so I didn't get a specific time) until 5:30... then went back down at 6:30 and work up just before 10:30. Thanks again Mom, Mel, and Kelly for taking care of our baby boy!
In the car with lots of girls
And this was little man at 10:15 this morning... knocked out! (He is only on his belly because I moved him from my chest to the bed and I was awake in the same room with him.)

This week was of work was an introduction to the system, some special education meetings, and then setting up my room. I have found a few unwanted guests in my room so I have cloroxed and lysoled basically my whole room. Next week I will be at my school (except my speech inservice day at another school) doing inservices and developing a schedule for my kiddos (and finishing up my room).

Friday night was one of my best friend's wedding shower. The ladies who threw it did a wonderful job and Ashley got a lot of great stuff! I am very excited for her and Chris' wedding! I can't wait to be a part of their special day.

With her bow bouquet.

I'm glad she already knew what I bought her and that everyone who was there doesn't judge. I thought I bought silver wrapping paper. I opened it and started to unroll it and realized that it was CLEAR. Ugh. So, I just threw some of that Easter grass type bag filler on the clear "wrapping paper" and wrapped it up. I wish I hadn't deleted the picture off of my phone. Can I still blame that sort of thing on the baby brain?

And two more pictures for your viewing pleasure:
Koal isn't really suppose to be in Hunter's room. He likes to push this boundary and will inch his way in. I thought this was just too cute and took a picture before I kicked Koal out into the hall.

Must have been a long morning.

Hunter's First Swim and Randomness

Hunter finally went swimming this week in our parents' neighbors' pool. The temperature in their pool is like bath water and they have a wonderful set up with umbrellas and chairs, perfect for shading a small baby. Thank you, Lucy, for allowing us to use your pool!

He wasn't too happy at first, but he was hungry. After we fed him, he enjoyed the water. The experience must have worn him out because he slept from 9:30-6:15 that night. Or it could have been the rice I put in his bottle. :]
But I'm hungry!!!
Molly loves "baby"
"If you let him go, will he sink?"

Long day at the pool

I've been enjoying my last week off from work with him. I'm getting in lots of cuddle time and morning smiles. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful friend, Kelly, who will be taking care of him when she isn't working (and until she decides he is too much with her 21 month old daughter, Emma... :] ). Hunter just loves his Aunt Kelly and Emma. I admit, I had a moment on Friday freaking out about leaving him, but I know he is in wonderful hands.
This is what Emma enjoyed doing at the mall

We had family pictures done today with my sister and her family. I cannot wait to see them! Sarah was very patient with all of us and just kept snapping pictures. Carl and I were late (VDOT decided the High Rise grates needed to be cleaned this morning) and when we got there she had already taken over 100 pictures of my sister's family. :] Amazing. She has a facebook photography page and a blog. Thanks again, Sarah! I cannot wait! I'm stealing her sneak peak to show you guys (it has her logo... and when I say "you guys" I mean the whole 5 of you that probably read my blog, haha). :]
Friday we had practice for kickball. Our team is looking pretty good this year. I'm very excited because we have lots of friends on the team this year. :] Hunter enjoyed watching for a little while, but then got too hot.

I went with Ashley and Rachael for a pedicure today. Hunter got to meet the ladies that would massage me elephantitis legs while I was pregnant with him. The smell is not strong at all in there if you are thinking I'm a terrible mother for taking my infant to a nail salon. He ate and slept the whole time. :]

Hunter will be officially 2 months old tomorrow. Still doing the same things... I don't think he has done anything new since my last post. He will laugh hysterically in his sleep and I have now heard him laugh at us (just not like he does in his sleep). He is only on Soy formula (discovered he is like his daddy and can't handle milk... we self diagnosed him). We stopped nursing last Thursday because he was still waking up at night uncomfortable from gas (after we would nurse). I was sad because I loved that time with him, but he is no longer uncomfortable so that is all that matters.
But I don't like tummy time!

My first day of "new teacher training" is on Wednesday. I'm nervous/excited/don't want to leave my baby. I know I will very much enjoy my job; I am at a wonderful elementary school with a wonderful staff. I can't wait to do therapy with the kiddos in the school, this is my first time in the schools (as a speech therapist... I did practicums in undergrad for teaching). Wish me luck!

2 Years

2 years ago today, Carl and I got married. We were lucky to have shared that wonderful day with our family and friends. There were some things I could have done without (like the Pastor ruining our rehearsal), but everything turned out like I had imagined. Thank you everyone who shared that day with us, who have been with us these past two years (and the years before), and who will be with us the many more years of our marriage.

I love you Carl. Here's to many more happy years!

As Promised

As promised the pictures from my camera (while little man is asleep on my shoulder).

As my anniversary gift, I went and got my hair done. Not the best picture of it, but it is lighter now.
