Cake Smash

I love how he is looking at Uncle Jeremy like, "You're not going to come near me right?!"

1st Birthday Decorations

We celebrated Hunter's 1st birthday yesterday at my sister's mother-in-law's house, Meemaw Swann.  It was a gorgeous day!  Meemaw Swann has a big, shaded backyard, perfect for an outdoor party.

We kept the decorations pretty simple.  I won a gift certificate to Doodle Monkey Printables and picked out Hunter's invitations, cupcake toppers (we didn't end up with cupcakes, so I used them for a banner instead), card tents, and birthday banner.  The nice thing about her Etsy shop is that I didn't have to pay per invitation or per a certain amount.  She designs the invitation on the computer and then sends it to you.  She was also very fast, and super easy to work with!  We had a Mod Monkey theme.

I purchased Hunter's cake smash outfit from Sew Sweet (I will have pictures of this outfit later... this story to come) and his birthday shirt (as seen in the previous photo session pictures... again, story to come as to why he didn't wear it at his party) from Tutus By Gayle.  Again, both ladies were super fast and super easy to work with!

Here are pictures of the decorations.  Most of these pictures come from one of my bffs Ashley (she has a really nice camera [so does Kelly]... I have camera envy).

Hunter [monkey] 1

Ashley made this watermelon basket.  She said something about messing up.  I just ignored her. ;]

And here is the cake we served to people.  Silly me forgot to get a good picture of his smash cake (it looks just the same).  I had envisioned this beautiful round cake with a monkey on it to serve to people.  But the round cakes at Plaza Bakery would not feed as many people as I needed and it cost $16 extra to put a monkey on it (no thanks, we are just going to eat it).

Please note Ryleigh eye-balling Hunter's cake

Bed Head

This is what happens when you are a restless sleeper...

Birthday

We didn't do much for Hunter's birthday since it was on a week night and Hunter had a cake-smash the day before.  We did give him one of his gifts and he seems to enjoy it.

Do you see seal at the top of the picture?  He now tags along everywhere with us

12 Month Appointment

On the way to the doctors... silly boy

Here are Hunter's stats at 12 months:
-Weight: 22 pounds, 6 ounces
-Height: 30 inches
-Head circumference: 49 (inches? I don't know)

He is in the 50th percentile for weight and a little above the 50th for height.  I was a little concerned he only gained 1 pound 3 ounces and .7 inches in 3 months, but our pediatrician didn't seem concerned.  Maybe that's normal?

He had to get a toe stick to draw blood to test his hemoglobin levels.  It came back 12.1 and the typical range is 10-12 so they said he was great.  He didn't cry for this.  He just watched as the nurse did it.  He was most upset over the band-aid on his toe.  He did his little pterodactyl screech until I took it off.

He also had to get 3 shots.  As soon as the needles went in he screamed.  As soon as I picked him up, he was fine.  He even smiled at the nurses as they left.  He apparently wasn't too bothered by them.

And here is another sneak peak of the photo session yesterday with Sarah.  Soooo good!

12 Months

It's official!  We have a toddler!  Where did this year go?!

At 12 months, Hunter...
-is wearing 12-18 month shirts, 12 month shorts, size 4 diapers.
-is walking.  Not consistently, he still prefers crawling, but he is getting braver and braver.  We no longer have to coax him to walk to us, he will just let go of whatever he is holding on to and walk on over.
-is approximating a few more words and has now added "all done" to his sign language vocabulary.
-has two true words: Daddy (which he says all the time) and Momma (definitely not as often as Daddy).
-is officially finished with taking the bottle and pacifier.  Woohoo!
-has 8 teeth.  4 on the top, 4 on the bottom.
-is doing his best to help get himself dressed.
-is taking one long nap during the day.  I can sometimes push it back to later in the day, but he doesn't like it very much.
-is on whole milk now.  Knock on wood he hasn't had any issues with it.  No rash, no constipation, nothing!  Hopefully this will continue.
-is throwing temper tantrums.  When he isn't getting his way, he will gently sit down, gently put his head on the floor, and then scream.  Although yesterday he sat down and threw his head back.

Saturday is his big party.  I cannot wait!  And yesterday we did his 1 year photos with Sarah.  The picture above is from his photo session.  I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures!!

Happy 1st Birthday!

Happy 1st birthday little man!  We love you sooooo much!

Here is his birth story.  I will update later his monthly progress later.
